The Aurora Borealis in San Diego! : October 10, 2024

October 8-9: Sunspot AR3848

While trying to see if I could find the comet in the daylight at its predicted brightest (magnitude -3), I captured the sunspot that generated the solar flare and CME that caused the October 10 auroras. No luck with the comet.

While an actual aurora did appear briefly, the persistent red glow is known as a "Stable Auroral Red (SAR) arc".
